Texas Pork Producers Association Honors Award Winners at Annual Awards Banquet

LUBBOCK, TEXAS June 14, 2025 – The Texas Pork Producers Association (TPPA) recognized outstanding breeders, exhibitors, and industry partners at its annual awards banquet. This event serves as the culmination of another successful year in the Texas swine industry, honoring those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, skill, and passion.

Breeders, exhibitors, and their families gathered from across the state to celebrate their accomplishments within the Certified Texas Bred Registry program in 2024-2025. This year, over 145 breeders and 540 exhibitors earned points within the program. TPPA recognized the Top Breeders, Supreme Breeders, Premier Exhibitors, Champion Exhibitors and Breeders, as well as the Best of Breed Exhibitors and Breeders.

In 2025, TPPA awarded over $37,000 in educational scholarships to deserving youth who exhibited Texas-bred pigs. These young leaders embody the values of dedication, integrity, and passion—traits that will continue to shape the future of the Texas swine industry long after they leave the show ring. At the awards banquet, both Premier Exhibitors and Foundation Female scholarship recipients were honored.

In addition, TPPA recognizes industry leaders who have had a tremendous impact on the Texas pork industry. Dr. Brett Kaysen (Des Moines, Iowa), senior vice president of producer and state engagement for the National Pork Board, received the association’s Industry Service award for his dedication to TPPA and our producers.

Troy Cole (LaCoste, Texas) was awarded the Rising Star award, which honors up-and-coming producers. Cole has been raising show pigs for three years, and has quickly found success in the ring—and, more importantly, has exemplified the values of hard work, leadership, and a commitment to shaping the next generation of showmen.

Tadd, Scotta, and Cameron Knight (Shallowater, Texas) were awarded the association’s Producer of the Year – the highest annual award. Knight Show Pigs continues to be a standout operation that embodies the belief that this industry is about building better leaders and future agriculturists.

The Texas Pork Producers Association takes great pride in supporting and recognizing the dedication of Texas swine breeders, exhibitors, and industry partners. On behalf of TPPA, we would like to congratulate all of our award recipients this year!
