Members of the Texas Pork Producers Association’s junior ambassadors and staff traveled to Washington, D.C., for the National Pork Producers Council’s (NPPC) Fall Legislative Action Conference. Texas was one of many states represented in D.C. during the event held from September 15-17.
While in the nation’s capital, members advocated for pressing issues currently facing the pork industry, including passing a new Farm Bill before the end of the year. The Texas team met with seven members of the House of Representatives who represent districts across the state.
In addition to their efforts on the Hill, members participated in policy briefings and industry update sessions hosted by NPPC. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Senator GT Thompson (R-PA) visited the conference to discuss the 2026 Farm Bill, the Securing Agricultural Workers Act (SAWA), and California’s Proposition 12.
In addition, the ambassadors were joined on the Hill by Dr. Clay Easterwood, a Pork Leadership Institute participant from New Braunfels, Texas. The attendees for the Texas group included junior ambassadors Allie Caddell, Cora Ford, Kenley Krohn, Lynley Albert, Payten Shuping, and Weston Lackey.
