Texas Pork Producers Association Announces the Inaugural Texas Best Pork Chop Competition Finalists

LUBBOCK, TEXAS – The Texas Pork Producers Association (TPPA) is excited to announce its finalists for the inaugural Texas Best Pork Chop Competition. This new statewide contest recognizes Texas restaurants while promoting the quality, flavor, and versatility of pork.

Finalists for the competition include:

  • Cafe Benedicte – Houston
  • Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que – Llano
  • Haywire – Houston, Plano, Dallas
  • Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House – Benbrook
  • Josephine Street – San Antonio
  • Kindling Texas Kitchen – Cibolo
  • Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill – Austin
  • Pignetti’s Italian Restaurant – Temple
  • Sixty Vines – Dallas, Plano, Austin, Houston, The Woodlands, San Antonio
  • Wunsche Bros Cafe & Saloon  – Spring

More than 400 Texans nominated their favorite restaurant pork chops during August, representing 16 restaurants from across the state. The competition highlights restaurants across Texas that feature pork on their menus and gives Texans an opportunity to recognize their favorite pork dishes.

“The support for our first year of the competition has been incredible,” said Laura Jimenez, consumer marketing specialist for TPPA. “Each finalist serves a unique pork chop dish that celebrates the versatility and flavor of pork.”

Moving forward, judges will visit each finalist restaurant anonymously to evaluate their pork chop based on taste, tenderness, creativity, presentation, and overall dining experience. Texans can vote for the finalists in three categories, People’s Choice, Best Fine Dining Pork Chop, and Best Casual Dining Pork Chop, through October 25. The combination of both judging and public vote will be considered when selecting the first winner of the contest.

The restaurant crowned Texas’ Best Pork Chop will receive official recognition as the premier restaurant for pork in Texas. The winning chef will be presented with an engraved chef’s knife sponsored by Zwilling, a commemorative recognition plaque, and the opportunity to showcase the official winner window decal and digital winner badge for promotional use. In addition, the restaurant will also be featured across the association’s marketing channels and serve as the “Official Texas Pork Chef Ambassador” for one year.

All top finalists will also be featured across the association’s website and social media in October to celebrate the accomplishment. To recognize their achievement as a finalist, they will also be awarded a window decal and digital badge.
