The 2025 State Fair of Texas, held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, was an incredible start for the Certified Texas Bred Registry (CTBR) season, with exhibitors earning the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion honors, along with four (4) breed and three (3) reserve breed champions.
Grand Champion Barrow | Weston Lackey
Weston Lackey of Haskell FFA exhibited the Grand Champion barrow raised by Roger and Jeremy Lacy of Lacy Show Pigs in Seminole. Lackey is a senior at Haskell High School, where he is also involved in cross country, football, FFA, and NHS. Recently, Weston served on the 2024-2025 Texas 4-H state council officer team.
Reserve Grand Champion Barrow | Ky Blount
Ky Blount of Kerr County 4-H exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion barrow raised by Luke and Fallon Lindner of Comfort. Blount is a junior at Tivy High School, where he is heavily active on the baseball team. Recently, Ky had the Reserve Grand Champion barrow at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2025 with another Texas-bred pig.
The CTBR program was created to recognize and reward Texas youth and breeders for their accomplishments within the show ring with Texas-bred pigs. Through the program, youth can qualify for scholarship opportunities and potentially receive additional premiums. In addition, unique recognition through social media and association events is included to honor our exhibitors for their achievements.
The Texas Pork Producers Association (TPPA) looks forward to recognizing, rewarding, and celebrating the accomplishments of our youth and breeders through the CTBR program in the 2025-2026 season. For more information about the CTBR program, click here.
The CTBR program would not be possible without our incredible sponsors. Thank you to our media sponsor, Premium Advantage Show Feeds, for their support of the CTBR initiatives.
