Bold Bites: Discover a World of Flavors

Howdy Texans!

Raising show pigs for excellence isn’t just about winning ribbons—it’s about producing high-quality pork that stands as a nutritious protein source for consumers. As showmen in the ring, it can be a challenge to translate the power of fresh, lean pork as part of a delicious, balanced diet to consumers. Lucky for you, the Texas Pork Producers Association is hosting a session on Bold Bites: Discover a World of Flavors.
April 4th-5th at the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Conference and Expo (TxACE), Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN), dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, and nutritional science/food science students will gather from around the state to hear the latest and greatest news in nutrition. At this event in Georgetown, Texas, Natalie McDaniel—an upcoming #RD2B (registered dietitian to be) will speak on behalf of the National Pork Board and Texas Pork about:
• Pairing lean, nutritious pork with vegetables, whole grains, and fruits to create balanced, healthy meals.
• Discovering how pork acts as a “carrier” food, delivering essential nutrients and high-quality protein while promoting the inclusion of vital food groups.
• Understanding how pork is a valued protein source, packed with important nutrients like selenium, B vitamins, iron and zinc for better health.

Natalie comes from a unique background in agriculture, being raised on a small family farm outside of Dalhart, Texas. Here, her family grew corn, cotton, and sorghum; raised Herefords, and participated in various 4-H livestock, food and nutrition and leadership projects.

She received her Bachelor of Nutritional Science at Texas A&M University in December 2023 and is currently studying for her Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at Texas Tech University with plans to graduate by December 2026 to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).
