Texas Pork Board Members and Junior Ambassadors Advocate for the Pork Industry

Members of the Texas Pork Producers Association board of directors, junior ambassadors, and staff traveled to Washington, D.C. for the National Pork Producers Council’s (NPPC) Fall Legislative Action Conference. Texas was one of the 23 states represented in D.C. during the event held from from September 10-12.

While in the nation’s capital, members advocated for pressing issues currently facing the pork industry, including passing a new Farm Bill before the end of the year. The Texas team met with seven members of the House of Representatives who represent districts across the state.

In addition to their efforts on the Hill, members participated in policy briefings and industry update sessions hosted by NPPC. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Senator John Boozman (R-AR) visited the conference to discuss the 2024 Farm Bill and California’s Proposition 12.

The attendees for the Texas group included board members Doug Alderson, Jeremy Rounsavall, and Ryan Balser. Junior ambassadors Kynnley Herrington, Harper Parson, Landry Miller, Brooke Reininger, Emily Muehlstein, and Bryce Borchardt also joined the trip.
